Key West
Part of the trip to visit the Dry Tortugas NP and the Virgin Island NP included some time in Key West Florida. Check out the highlights below.
We made a quick tour of the National Key Deer Refuge and never saw a deer. Hard to believe you need a refuge for deer but there were other interesting sights (never heard of “poison wood” before.
Of course we visited the “most Southern Point” in the continental US and the old Fort Zachary Taylor. Since it was just after Christmas there was some added decorations around.
Visited Harry S. Truman’s Little White House and Ernest Hemingway’s House and of course saw the many six-toed cats that roam around both houses.
Finally on the way out of Key West we did find some of those deer but not in their “refuge”. Also found and interesting bar.
