North Cascades NP
9/7/2025-9/9/2025
North Cascades National Park is a remote wilderness in Northern Washington. It is one of the least visited National Parks because most of the park isn’t accessible, but we found plenty of places to hike and the three lakes offered water sports. It has tall rugged mountains and, with 300 glaciers, has the most glaciers in the continental US. After being in Alaska, the glaciers by September are small, but the glacier fed rivers and lakes were flowing with beautiful teal water. The western portion is a lush temperate rain forest with huge trees. The eastern side is much drier and reminded us of the Rockies.
Our challenge was finding restaurants. We found a really good one with a funny recommendation out front. Dean says he now knows who to ask for a good recommendation!
