Yosemite & Pinnacles NP

We spent a week at two national parks, Yosemite and Pinnacles, close in proximity but very different. First, Yosemite. It is in the Sierra Nevada mountains with a valley surrounded by tall peaks and breathtaking waterfalls, and there are more people here than most parks we have visited on the off season. We saw our third and final Sequoia Tree grove.

We couldn’t get a room in a lodge or cabin so “camped” in a platform tent that was packed in an area with hundreds of other tents. Kind of felt like a sardine but it served its purpose. We hiked vertically much higher daily than other parks on this trip. Glad we broke in the legs at Kings Canyon and Sequoia.

Our final National Park on this trip and final one in continental North America was Pinnacles. It was formed from volcanic action, is very dry and hot but has caves that feel great as you hike through them. This is one place where condors nest and live. We had fun watching a nesting pair on a cliff. Dean got a couple of pictures that he might share.
